At our discretion, we may change the interest rate and Annual Percentage Yield on your deposit account at any time (excluding Certificates of Deposit). Rates may change after the account is opened. See additional disclosures for other account information. Fees could reduce earnings on the account.
Compounding and Crediting
Interest will be credited annually, or at maturity if less than a year. If you cash in your certificate before interest is credited, you may not receive the accrued interest.
We use the daily balance method to calculate interest on your certificate. This method applies a periodic rate to the daily balance in the account for the period. The daily balance is calculated by adding the principal in the account for each day of the period and dividing that figure by the number of days in the period.
You cannot make deposits to a certificate during a term. You cannot withdraw part of the principal from a certificate except after maturity. On automatically renewable certificates, there is a ten day grace period during which withdrawals and additions may be made.
Early Withdrawal Penalties
If you withdrawal the entire principle prior to maturity you may have to pay a penalty. The penalty is the difference between the rate paid on your current certificate and the rate the bank must pay to replace your certificate for the time remaining until its maturity or the minimum penalty based on banking regulations, whichever is greater. The minimum penalty based on banking regulations is as follows:
For time deposits with an original maturity of less than three months, forfeiture of an amount equal to all the interest that could have been earned during the scheduled term of the deposit, on the amount withdrawn, at the rate in effect during the term.
For time deposits with an original maturity of three months, forfeiture of an amount equal to the interest earned, from the date of deposit to the date of withdrawal, at the rate in effect during the term...
For time deposits with an original maturity of more than three months and up to one year, forfeiture of an amount equal to three months’ interest, at the rate in effect during the term.
For time deposits with an original maturity of 12 months and greater, forfeiture of an amount equal to six months’ interest, at the rate in effect during the term
The penalty will be assessed against the principal of the certificate if there isn’t sufficient interest earned prior to the early withdrawal. Exceptions to these penalties may vary in the event of the death or judicially declared mental incompetence of any owner of the certificate. There are certain additional circumstances defined in the Federal Regulations where, at our discretion, the penalty may not be applied. We will exercise our discretion in such circumstances when the request for early withdrawal is made.
Certificates and IRAs is FDIC insured up to $250,000.
