New Market Bank began business on June 10, 1905 as First State Bank of New Market. The original bank structure was a white framed building that was removed in 1913 to make way for the brick building in downtown New Market. Our New Market branch relocated down the street on Old Town Road in May of 2018. In October 1988, the bank opened its first branch office in Lakeville and at that time was officially re-named New Market Bank. Since that time we have opened our first office in the City of Prior Lake. We have expanded our services beyond traditional banking to include a full range of mortgage and financial services.
New Market Bank is a family-owned and operated community bank that started with Arnold Vogel in 1913, who continued working at New Market Bank until 1960 when he retired and was honored by the Minnesota Bankers Association as a 50 year banker. This distinction is also shared with his son, Wilfred (Bill) Vogel, who took over as president when Arnold retired. In 1985, Bill's son Robert (Bob) Vogel followed in his father and grandfather's footsteps as the third generation president and was eventually joined on the management team by his daughters, Anita Vogel-Drentlaw and Karen Vogel-Ramola.
On January 1st, 2014, Anita Vogel-Drentlaw became the 4th generation President to serve New Market Bank and its community. Anita graduated from the University of St Thomas in 2000 and began her banking career at McGladrey & Pullen as a public accountant for small community banks. She joined New Market Bank in 2002 and has since graduated from The Graduate School of Banking in Boulder, CO.
As New Market Bank begins our second 100 years of operation, we continue to be a community bank dedicated to serving the area surrounding our three offices. The dedication and hard work of our staff has allowed us to grow and prosper, as well as provide us the opportunity to be one of a handful of truly independent, locally owned, banks located in the Minneapolis – St. Paul metropolitan area. Our vision is to be the community bank which creates a family feeling atmosphere where all interactions feel as easy and sincere as a handshake.
