New Market Bank Contributes Nearly $30,000 to
the Community in 2020

Increased support helps neighbors and local nonprofits during difficult year

ELKO NEW MARKET, Minn., Jan. 13, 2021 – Local, family-owned New Market Bank with locations in Lakeville, Prior Lake and Elko New Market, announced today that it contributed $29,685 to local nonprofit organizations, schools and community initiatives during 2020. The total, an increase of nearly $10,000 over 2019 community giving, includes bank donations, donations by employees and customers, which the bank matched, and sponsorships of various fundraising events and special requests. Over and above its financial contributions, New Market Bank employees also volunteered for several organizations.

“In a year of great need in our communities, I’m proud we were able to step up our support,” said Anita Drentlaw, CPA, president of New Market Bank. “We gave more to social service organizations in 2020 than in previous years to help meet the higher demand for basic necessities and services stemming from COVID-19 hardships.”

Each month, New Market Bank chooses a nonprofit to support through its Giving Back to the Community program. Donations made by employees and customers at any branch location through that month are matched dollar-for-dollar by the bank, up to a specified limit. In 2020, the nonprofits supported through the program included:

  • FISH Network
  • Free Bikes 4 Kidz
  • Hope for the Community / Open Door / ROCK food pantries
  • Hope Kids
  • Majestic Hills Ranch
  • Pawsitive Perspectives Assistance Dogs (PawPADs)
  • Prior Lake Polar Plunge for Special Olympics
  • Shakopee Community Assistance (SCA)
  • Sleep in Heavenly Peace-South Metro
  • Southern Valley Alliance
  • ThinkGREAT Foundation
  • Toy Corner

The monthly nonprofits are chosen based on recommendations from employees and customers, with an internal committee making the final selections.

The bank also supported special initiatives and fundraising events benefitting organizations such as: the BestPrep, the Elko New Market Fire Relief Association, Ryan Huberty’s Eagle Scout project, DAV, Prior Lake Lakefront Days and more.

According to the bank’s community giving policy, it focuses its support to have greater impact in selected causes. Specifically, the bank supports established 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4) or 501(c)(6) nonprofits. The nonprofits must benefit the communities where New Market Bank operates: Elko New Market, Lakeville or Prior Lake and neighboring communities.
